I graduated from Otago Medical School in 1995 following a few years of paramedical work and my “overseas experience”.
I’ve been a GP since 1999 and this was spurred on by what is at the heart of me… my desire to help people make positive changes in their health and their lives. As well as general practice, I have a strong focus on men’s health, preventative health, skin examination and some minor skin surgery, more than 20 years experience in Botulinum toxin injections for facial lines, and supporting health in the rainbow communities.
My style is to communicate plainly in a conversational way with everyday language, and I am straight up with this. I really enjoy getting to know my patients over time. I believe we are responsible for our own wellness and I share the responsibility with you to do this the best that we can.
My post graduate experience was at Tauranga Hospital for 3 years with a year specialising in Paediatrics, obtaining a post graduate Diploma in Paediatrics. After this I worked in the Waikato and North Shore as an adult medical registrar. I started working as a GP initially in West Auckland, and happily joined CityMed in October 2013. I also worked as a fitness instructor and international trainer for Les Mills for more than 2 decades, which strengthened my desire to actively promote physical and mental wellness.
My other interests include learning Spanish, diving, sailing, skiing, travel, hiking, yoga, kayaking and camping, birds and trees.
